The inspiration behind Lil' Sugarplum is my two beautiful children pictured above. After three exciting years of trucks, trains, planes, dirt and anything blue, my daughter was born. I began to see shades of pink; I fixated on pretty and dainty girly things and began enjoying all things feminine. I did not realize how I had a whole creative side of me ready to be unleashed until I began browsing the baby boutiques for girly things. It began with the idea of wanting to make my daughter a baby bracelet and my son a cap and then the passion grew into a business in May of 2006.

First and foremost, I'm blessed to be a stay at home mom; my children are my greatest joys! Therefore, this has become a creative outlet for me to enjoy while the kiddos are napping or sleeping. I do plan to some day carry a whole line of accessories ranging from hats, headbands, bracelets, and purses to necklaces, and caps for boys. In the meantime, I really cherish this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson that I have thought so highly of that I actually placed it on my business cards. It so eloquently describes how I feel about my own children. "We find delight in the beauty and happiness of children, that make the heart too big for the body". Although I could go crazy with this business, I chose not to lose sight of the big picture and that is my two precious children in dream land right now who are growing up so quickly before my very eyes!

I chose the name Lil' Sugarplum because as a child, my Dad, would always and still does call my sister and I, Sugarplum, as an endearing and affectionate way of addressing us. I could not resist using it for my business, since it had a lot of meaning for me and felt very fitting. Now when my Dad calls me, he says, "Hi Sugarplum" with extra pizzazz.
